I was cold. I was starving. I needed to find shelter for my pups.
Through the rain I walked, my three pups trailing behind me. If I moved to fast, they wouldn't be able to keep up. They'd die.
I soon saw a promising outcrop of rocks, and decided to tell my children to stay put.
As I left the outcrop, I returned soon with some soft bedding. Then, I went out to go hunting.
(Trying out a new form of rping :3)

The she-wolf slithered around the underbrush, her ears perked and ready to pick up any sounds. Her wet nose trembled in the rain, taking cover under a giant-leafed plant. Now out of the rain for a second she could think. Food, she needed food. The water falling would be gathered on some leaves that she could drink later, that's what she learned from previous rains. Not bothering to shake out her damp coat she darted out, trying to remember how to track. It still wasn't a natural skill for her. Looking for signs of eaten plants or tracks she sniffed the air. Skidding to a halt in her little walk she looked around, seeming alarmed. Another wolf. I couldn't be on their territory or else I'd know ages ago, or they just had poor marking. Maybe the scent is old and washed out by the rain, but you could never know. She thought, slowly retreating to the shade of a tree. Maybe the dark sky and shade would hide her black coat from unsuspecting eyes, and she could go off and hunt in another direction. Laying down she blinked her amber eyes, waiting to either see or not see this possible wolf.

Hunger, it is gnawing at my veins. And my poor, poor pups. So innocent, and quiet. I needed to raise them to be healthy and strong.
I am a wanderer, not bound to any one stretch of land. However, now that my pups are born, I may very well need to settle. Of course, that is never a good idea, what with all the hungry predators about, and no pack to help defend ourselves.
Crunch!
What was that sound. I poked my head out of the shadows of a nearby tree, eyes gleaming. I smelled something. Another wolf, perhaps? My brown and white fur seemed to glow in the moonlight.
Drip... drip...
A splotch of water fell on my nose. I shook my head.

Ebony watched as a head poked out of the shadows. Her fur almost seemed to glow in the moonlight, but I still wanted nothing to do with her. Ebony slowly backed up, keeping my eyes on the wolf. Her back paw got struck with a sharp pain as she restrained herself not to let out a shriek of pain. She managed to suppress it to a whine. Even then it might've been loud enough for the other one to hear, she'd just have to see. Lifting up her hurt paw she flattened her ears and watched the other wolf. If she approached, Ebony would try and hide her wound from her until she wasn't a threat. If she didn't notice her she'd attend to the paw before darting away. Ebony sighed, how many children had to live the life of a grown up?

....Whineeee....
I would hear the sounds of an animal in pain, and perked up. The smell of wolf was strong now.
Predators? I would wonder. But the smell did not give off the fragrance of viciousness. It sounded scared.
But I couldn't stay in one area for a prolonged period of time...
But whoever was crying sounded young.
I decided to come a little closer. But if this was a trick, I would kill anyone who came forward.
Drip... drip.... drip.... the water continues to fall from the sky.

Ebony watched as the wolf came closer. Putting her hind paw down to where it was just barely touched the ground she barked at her, "Who are you?" The black wolf ruffled up her fur, trying to seem large and intimidating. If it worked or made her look like a giant fluff-ball she wouldn't know until the other wolf reacted. Glancing behind her the wolf planned her escape route if this one turned hostile.

Rythian drew in a breath of damp, crisp forest air through his nostrils. He snorted in disgust as the stench of wet fur irritated his sensitive scent glands, hot breath becoming steam. Rain cascaded down his colossal sides as it plummeted from the sky. He hadn't eaten in quite a while, hunger already began to gnaw at his gut. Since significant food was scarce in this particular area, he would have settle for the next best thing he had at hand; dire wolves. A low rumble escaped his throat disapprovingly. Dire wolves were the last thing he would wish to consume. They had more fur than meat and the meat was awful anyway. Rythian shifted his weight between each leg. It would have to do for now until he made it back to his territory. He turned around and slid back into the shadowy foliage.
After a while of following the scent, he came across dire wolf tracks laid out in the mud. He dipped his neck down to the track and sniffed them a few times. Still fresh and they still weren't washed away by the rain yet. He tested the air again. It was strong. They would be right behind these bushes. He took a discreet step forward and pushed his gigantic head slowly through the leaves. He parted his jaws, letting out a low growl and waited for something to move in front of his eyes.

Growl...
I see an unfamiliar face in the shadows, my eyes glowing tentatively. However, the stranger appeared young, no more than a child, despite trying to appear large. I stared at them quietly, before shaking my head.
"Turn back, young wolf. Go back to your pack," I would say, watching their reaction. Oddly enough, I couldn't smell any other wolf on them.
But all of that went away when I heard a growl behind me.
Grrr...owl....
I jumped, tensing, and spun around to look at the source. However, all I could see was a snout. A reptilian scout. I would growl at the reptile, backing away. If things got bad, I would run. This child wolf, after all, wasn't my responsibility.

The young wolf watched as the other one did nothing but say to go back to her pack. With a slight growl the young wolf replied, "I have n-" before getting cut off by an intimidating growl. Already by the noise she could tell it was big. Her eyes widened as a huge snout came through the bushes. Her breath got heavy, her heart pounding in the shallow hold of her chest. Now was time to use that escape route. She pulled her hind paw up to her mouth and quickly plucked whatever was stuck in there before darting down the path.

Rythian noticed a bit of movement in front of him. From that movement he could pinpoint where Jesma would be. He narrowed his eyes and slowly inhaled, his nostrils flaring before roaring loudly. The roaring would likely cause them to dart and attempt to escape, making them completely visible to him. Sure enough, one of them took off running. He bellowed and crashed through the bushes, now in pursuit of Ebony. His feet slammed down next to Jesma, nearly crushing her, shaking the ground around them violently. Rythian quickly caught up to Ebony and began snapping his jaws near her hind-side in hope that she would tire before she made it into somewhere he couldn't fit and surrender herself to his bone-shattering bite.

R-AWR!
My eyes widened. The creature had taken flight. And that was all I needed to get me running.
I didn't even hesitate. This creature's life didn't matter to be. Let it be eaten, if it meant my survival.
I ran in a random direction, eyes wide.
Maybe it could settle for itself? After all, the rain made the ground muddy, and slippery?

The scared she-wolf ran as hard as she could. Hearing the thumps of the monster behind her she pushed even harder. The adrenaline in her blood would keep the black wolf going, but it wouldn't last forever. She darted in front of trees, attempting to slow him down. She needed to find a cave. The wolf looked around, chest heavily going up and down. She felt like she could feel his breath on the back of her neck. Turning she darted into a wide cave, not stopping until she was sure there was a place where he couldn't fit. Seeing a thin path she turned, throwing herself in there. It was shallow, but she hoped it was enough for him not to be able to reach. Carefully turning around the black wolf faced the front of the entrance, her breath still going heavy as her limbs started shaking from all the running.

Rythian slowed down as he began to slip and skid in the mud. If he lost his balance and fell, it might mean the end for him. He shrieked as Ebony disappeared into the trees. He snarled furiously. He couldn't loose sight of her. Fueled by frustration he trampled the trees. They crashed to the ground as he pushed his way through them. There! The wolf was trying to escape into a cave. He ran into the cave, his back side slamming into the back of the cave and causing part of it to crumble. There she was. Right in front of him. He could snap her up right now. He spread his jaws, preparing to bite down. He snorted in surprise as she jumped into the cover of a narrow passage. He skidded to a halt and whipped around. He stuck his snout in the narrow opening, trying to grab her. Rocks rained down from the roof of the cave and the passage began to give away. He bellowed loudly, screeching and roaring in rage. He jaws snapped closed a few times with skull-shaking colossal force. Defeated, Rythian backed away, looking around a few times. Maybe he would have more luck going after the wolves little friend. He hissed and turned around, running back out the cave in the other wolves' direction.

Gone.... It was gone, right?
Well, it didn't much matter, as long as I got away from it.
I kept running with all my speed, my eyes wide.
Rain continued to fall. Why must this world be eat or be eaten?
Wasn't there a way for everyone to just be herbivores...?
Or, at the very lest, omnivores?
She couldn't give up meat, even if the creatures she ate had intelligence.
But still...
She could always talk the creature out of eating her. But that had never worked before.
I continued to run, soon finding a lake.
Maybe I could swim across?!
That beast couldn't swim! Right?
I decided to carefully circle around it, my eyes wide and on the lookout for anything suspicious.

Ebony snarled as the muzzle tried to snap at her. She could feel his hot breath almost making her want to suffocate in its smell. She could hear rocks falling and even felt a few as they landed on or by her. She was terrified. After what felt like hours the dinosaur removed his snout with a roar. Heart pounding fast in her chest she stayed there, even after he left. Hearing his footsteps leave the cave she stood there for a bit longer. Peeking her head out of the crack she scented the air. He was long gone. Shaking her head she darted out and down the cave, finding a small opening she could just fit through before bounding off and away from where he went.
